A midflight vaping drama turned heads on an American Airlines flight from Phoenix to San Francisco — ending with the passenger getting booted off the plane.
The wild incident unfolded on August 4 when a young man was caught vaping in the airplane bathroom, a strict no-go under Federal Aviation Administration rules that ban all smoking, including e-cigarettes, on commercial flights.
Caught on Camera: Heated Showdown at 30,000 Feet
The passenger himself recorded the entire tense exchange with a flight attendant outside the restroom, later posting the clip to his Instagram. In the video, the flight attendant firmly confronts him, insisting he stop vaping and follow regulations.
Things escalated quickly when the stewardess reached toward his phone, trying to prevent further filming. That move sparked a fresh conflict, with the passenger accusing her of assault for allegedly placing her hands on him.
Despite denying the claim, the flight attendant eventually apologized after the passenger demanded it — but the drama was far from over.
Passenger Vows to Report Incident — But Gets Booted Instead
Unhappy with the apology, the passenger threatened to file a police report once the plane landed. And sure enough, upon arrival at San Francisco International Airport, law enforcement was waiting.
American Airlines confirmed the passenger was removed due to “disruptive behavior.” However, the airline declined to comment on whether the flight attendant faced any consequences.
As of now, San Francisco police have not disclosed whether any arrests were made following the incident.
Why Vaping on Planes Is a No-Go
The FAA bans vaping aboard all commercial flights, citing safety concerns and regulations around smoking in enclosed spaces. Flight crews are trained to handle such violations seriously, given the risks involved in disrupting cabin safety.
Social Media Reacts: What Do You Think?
The viral video has sparked debate online — with some supporting the flight attendant’s enforcement of rules, while others sympathize with the passenger’s frustration.
