T-Pain Speculates That Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s $ome $exy $ongs Is Made of Recycled Tracks
T-Pain has weighed in on the latest collaborative album from Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR, $ome $exy $ongs, and he has a bold theory about its origins. During a recent livestream, the Grammy-winning artist shared his thoughts, suggesting that the 21-track LP might consist of songs that were repurposed from past recording sessions rather than being entirely new material.
T-Pain’s Theory on the Album’s Creation
T-Pain speculated that Drake may have had a large collection of unreleased tracks and offered PARTYNEXTDOOR some of these songs to create the album. “I feel like Drake recorded a bunch of stuff,” T-Pain said. “And to keep PARTY around, he probably said, ‘Here, take 10 or 15 of these, put a verse on them, and that’s our album.’”
T-Pain made sure to clarify that his theory wasn’t meant to be a critique of the album’s quality. “I’m not saying the songs are bad,” he added. “These are just tracks that didn’t make other albums. Or maybe PARTY brought Drake an album and asked him to add verses.”
$ome $exy $ongs: A Chart-Topping Success
Despite T-Pain’s speculation, $ome $exy $ongs has already made a major impact. The album, released on Valentine’s Day, set a new record on Apple Music for the biggest first-day streams for an R&B/soul album. The project, featuring guest appearances from Yebba and Chino Pacas, is already being praised for its infectious sound and smooth vibe.
One of the album’s most talked-about tracks, GIMME A HUG, features Drake referencing both Melyssa Ford and Joe Budden. Drake praises Ford, calling her a “legend from the 6,” while also taking a swipe at Budden with a pointed insult.
Reactions to the Mentions
Melyssa Ford, who was mentioned in a flattering light by Drake, initially seemed unsure of how to process the compliment but later updated her Instagram bio to reflect the praise. “I don’t know what he’s trying to do,” she commented on Budden’s podcast. Meanwhile, Budden brushed off the diss, responding with good humor, “I was happy.”
