1. Mama D’s Quest for Another Guinness World Record

Dorcus Basheba Kirabo, popularly known as Mama D, kickstarted the year by etching her name in history with a Guinness World Record for the longest nonstop cooking hours, clocking an astonishing 114 hours during her famous Cookathon.

Not one to rest on her laurels, Mama D later announced her ambition to pursue another record in 2025, thrilling her growing fanbase. Her determination and culinary prowess have made her a national icon, inspiring countless Ugandans to pursue their dreams boldly.

2. Solomon Kampala’s Journey from Swimming to Running

Solomon Kampala, the talented son of Bobi Wine, surprised fans when he decided to trade swimming goggles for running shoes. In an exclusive interview with MBU, Solomon revealed that swimming wasn’t a perfect fit for him, citing challenges in holding his breath. Running, he explained, felt more aligned with his natural abilities and athletic passion.

Ugandan content creator and culinary artist Raymond Kahuma made waves yet again in 2024 when he shattered the record for the fastest time to make three chapatis. Known for his creativity and skill, Kahuma first gained recognition in 2022 with his Guinness World Record for crafting the largest Ugandan rolex.

Though currently based in Kenya, Kahuma remains a beloved figure in Uganda’s creative community. His latest achievement further cements his status as a trailblazer in showcasing Uganda’s rich culinary culture to the world.

4. Eddy Kenzo and Phiona Nyamutoro’s Kukyala Ceremony

In one of the year’s most talked-about moments, celebrated musician Eddy Kenzo and State Minister for Minerals Phiona Nyamutoro celebrated their traditional Kukyala ceremony in an intimate setting.
