Comedy legend Tracy Morgan took the stage at the SNL50: The Homecoming Concert on Friday (Feb. 14) and delivered a hilarious, no-holds-barred roast of Saturday Night Live creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels. The event, which aired on Peacock, was part of the 50th-anniversary celebrations for the legendary sketch comedy show.
Tracy Morgan Feels ‘Disrespected’ by Lorne Michaels
The energetic and outspoken Morgan kicked off his segment at Radio City Music Hall by jokingly calling out Michaels for never allowing him to sing on SNL.
“Is everyone having a good time?” Morgan asked the crowd. “Well, I’m not.”
The former SNL cast member then upped the ante, exclaiming, “I’ve been disrespected! Lorne Michaels, you have disrespected me, b**ch!”
As the camera panned to Michaels, the 79-year-old producer could be seen laughing along with the crowd.
Morgan Jokes About Lorne Michaels’ Future
Morgan continued his comedic rant, lamenting that despite a night filled with musical performances, nobody had invited him to sing. “It’s a night of great music, and nobody asked me to sing—nobody! Dis-res-pect!”
Then, in true Tracy Morgan fashion, he took his humor to another level by delivering a darkly comedic prophecy about Michaels’ future.
“I don’t care what Lorne Michaels thinks,” Morgan declared defiantly. “He’s going to be dead in a week.”
Morgan elaborated on the joke, referencing a conversation he allegedly had with Michaels. “It’s true! I went to the Hamptons a while back, and Lorne said, ‘I’m only going to stay alive until the 50th [season], and then I’m going to kick the bucket.’”
The audience erupted in laughter at Morgan’s wild claim, highlighting his signature ability to push boundaries while keeping the crowd entertained.
Morgan Remembers a Hilarious ‘SNL’ Snub
Morgan didn’t stop there. He recalled asking Michaels if he could perform at the 50th-anniversary celebration and claimed that the SNL mastermind responded dismissively.
“When I asked Lorne if I could sing, he said, ‘I don’t even know you,’ and then asked me to ‘go park Tina [Fey]’s car.’”
Morgan quickly followed up with another punchline, quipping, “That’s disrespect! He thought I was Tina’s driver, which is ridiculous because everyone knows Tina likes her drivers young and Dominican.”
SNL50 Celebration Continues
The festivities surrounding SNL50 continue on Sunday, February 16, with SNL50: The Anniversary Special, airing at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) on NBC and streaming on Peacock. The special is expected to feature legendary sketches, celebrity guests, and nostalgic moments from the show’s rich history.
