New Details Emerge in the Tragic Death of UNLV Football Player Ben Christman
UNLV football player Ben Christman tragically passed away on February 11, 2025, just one day after experiencing chest pains during practice, new documents reveal. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the 21-year-old offensive lineman was found unresponsive at his off-campus apartment, leading to an outpouring of grief from teammates, coaches, and fans.
The Discovery and Response
At approximately 10 AM on February 11, a 911 call was made by a teammate who had gone to check on Christman after he missed practice. The teammate and another player found him lying on his back, foaming at the mouth, with purple fingers. They immediately began administering CPR, but when police arrived, it was determined that Christman had been dead for several hours.
The Heartbreaking Final Moments
The police report also revealed that Christman had experienced chest pains during a practice session the previous day, February 10. His coach performed an EKG at the UNLV facilities, and although a cardiologist later reviewed the results and determined they looked “normal,” no one could have predicted the devastating outcome.
A Normal Day Before the Tragedy
According to teammates, Christman arrived home from practice around 3 PM on February 10. He briefly greeted his roommate before heading to his room, where he was not seen again that day. The following morning, his teammates went to check on him and discovered the tragic scene.
The police report confirmed that no drugs, weapons, or suspicious items were found in Christman’s room, and there was no indication of foul play. His death was ultimately attributed to natural causes, as stated in his obituary.
A Rising Star Gone Too Soon
Christman, a four-star recruit in the 2021 class, began his career at Ohio State before transferring to Kentucky. In December 2024, he joined the UNLV football team, where he was seen as a promising talent.
