Vice President J.D. Vance says he and his three-year-old daughter had a frightening encounter with protesters on Saturday afternoon—alleging that a group of pro-Ukraine demonstrators aggressively followed and yelled at them.
Vance detailed the alleged incident on X (formerly Twitter), claiming that while out for a walk with his daughter, protesters chanting “Slava Ukraini” began trailing them, causing his child to feel anxious and afraid.
Vance Responds to the Protesters
In an attempt to defuse the situation, Vance says he decided to engage the protesters in conversation, which he described as “mostly respectful.” However, he didn’t hold back his frustration, writing that anyone who “chases after a kid as part of a political protest is a s* person.”**
No Video Evidence Yet
As of now, there is no video evidence of the incident, and the Secret Service has not commented on the matter. TMZ has reached out for further clarification but has yet to receive a response.
Ongoing Ukraine Tensions
Vance, who shares three children—Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel—with his wife Usha Vance, has found himself at the center of heightened tensions surrounding the U.S.-Ukraine relationship.
The vice president recently had a heated meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House, during which he told Zelensky to be more grateful to Donald Trump for his efforts to “save Ukraine.” The discussion spiraled into a shouting match, ultimately leading to Zelensky being escorted out of the White House.
Backlash from Pro-Ukraine Protesters
Following the controversial meeting, Vance faced backlash from pro-Ukraine demonstrators, including protests during his ski trip to Vermont. Some critics even labeled him “Putin’s puppet.”
With emotions still running high, it appears these tensions are far from over—at least according to Vance.
