Will Smith is back in the music scene! The iconic actor and rapper announced on Friday that his long-awaited album, ‘Based On A True Story,’ is finally ready for release. After a 20-year break from dropping an album, fans can now expect his first musical project in two decades.

Smith excitedly shared the news on social media, revealing that he has been working hard on this new music for quite some time, even labeling the tracks as “episodes” to emphasize his autobiographical approach. He also draped himself in Phillies gear for the album cover photo shoot, reflecting his personal connection to the project.

This new album marks the first result of Smith’s distribution deal with independent record label SLANG, which he signed last July.

The album’s opener will feature a reunion with DJ Jazzy Jeff, his longtime collaborator. Fans will also get to hear guest appearances from Jaden Smith, Teyana Taylor, and several other talented artists.

In a fun twist, Smith also teamed up with his ‘Fresh Prince’ costar Tatyana Ali and Doechii, the reigning Best Rap Album winner, to add hype to the album release through the “Anxiety” social media challenge.

A lot has happened since Will last released music, including the rise of his kids as stars, his Oscar win, and, of course, his infamous Oscars slap. So, expect the album to be an engaging and reflective listen, packed with a variety of emotions and stories.
