🌟 1. The Beverly Hills Hotel — Beverly Hills, CA

Rating: 9.8 | Price: From $1,491/night
Vibe: Old Hollywood glamour meets modern A-lister indulgence
Why It’s Iconic:
They don’t call it the “Pink Palace” for nothing. Since opening in 1912, The Beverly Hills Hotel has hosted everyone from Marilyn Monroe to Rihanna. The signature pink-and-green color palette, retro banana-leaf wallpaper, and poolside cabanas scream “classic Beverly Hills.”
Must-Do Moments:
- Grab a booth at the Polo Lounge, one of the most famous power-lunch spots in Hollywood.
- Lounge in a private poolside cabana with Champagne service—because why not?
- Book the Bungalow 1A, Monroe’s former favorite hideaway.
Fun Fact:
Elizabeth Taylor honeymooned here—six times. Yes, six.
The Beverly Hills Hotel is iconic to La-La Land lore, so much so that it inspired the Eagles tune “Hotel California.” Dubbed the Pink Palace in 1948 when the hotel was painted to complement the sunset, it has racked up quite a few fabled stories: Katharine Hepburn is said to have jumped into the pool fully clothed after a tennis game, and Elizabeth Taylor enjoyed six honeymoons here. Today, this Dorchester Collection hotel set on 12 acres continues to cater to discerning travelers with stylish guest rooms (equipped with marble bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, complimentary high-speed internet access and gourmet minibars), business amenities and a supreme Sunset Boulevard location. Travelers say the customer service is just as legendary as the hotel itself, praising the hotel staff for its attentiveness and many say they were “treated like royalty.” The on-site Polo Lounge is known for its celeb-spotting and is the perfect place for a “see and be seen” lunch.

Fun facts and finds from our hotel tour:
- Though the hotel was built in 1912, it was updated and expanded in the late 1940s by Paul Revere Williams, the first Black member of the American Institute of Architects. Revere designed the Crescent Wing, which houses the coveted Crescent Suites; his handwriting has become the hotel’s iconic logo.
- On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, the historic Fountain Coffee Room keeps the counter service going until 10 p.m. You never know who you’ll meet down at the diner during nightcap hours, and it’s the perfect time to grab a banana split, one last cocktail or even a plate of pancakes.
- Bungalow 1A was a favorite of Marilyn Monroe, and the hotel still keeps the bench where she took a well-known photo. Guests frequently pose on the bench themselves to recreate the photo

Fine Egyptian cotton linens, expansive terraces, lush gardens and an actual Swan Lake make Hotel Bel-Air better suited for relaxation seekers than meeting-making movers and shakers. Guests appreciate the property’s quiet atmosphere and superb customer service. Meanwhile, the rooms and suites win visitors over with bright, airy decor and tech-savvy amenities like flat-screen TVs and in-room iPads. Also, the Hotel Bel-Air Spa and the outdoor pool ensure that travelers return home refreshed and rested.
