Austin Metcalf, a student-athlete from Frisco Centennial High School, was stabbed and fatally wounded during an argument with another teenager, Karmelo Anthony, at the event on Wednesday.

According to Hunter Metcalf, Austin’s twin brother, the conflict started when Austin sat underneath the Frisco Memorial High School tent. Karmelo Anthony, who was associated with the Memorial High School group, asked Austin to move. Hunter explained the situation to WFAA, saying, “We asked him to move, and he started getting aggressive and talking reckless.” The argument quickly escalated when Austin stepped in, telling Anthony to move. Anthony responded by saying, “Make me move.” Seconds later, Hunter witnessed his brother being stabbed.
First Responders and Austin’s Passing
Despite the prompt arrival of first responders, who administered lifesaving measures, Austin succumbed to his injuries. Authorities responded to the scene around 10 AM, but tragically, Austin was pronounced dead shortly after.
Karmelo Anthony Arrested for Murder
Karmelo Anthony, the individual involved in the altercation, was arrested and charged with first-degree felony murder. He was being held without bond as of Wednesday evening. Hunter stated that neither he nor Austin had ever met Anthony before the fateful event, calling the altercation “under 30 seconds.”

Austin Metcalf was a promising student-athlete, described by his father, Jeff Metcalf, as having an “unbelievable” passion for football. Austin had been voted team MVP and maintained a 4.0 GPA. The Metcalf family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help with funeral expenses, and as of Thursday morning, over $84,000 had been raised in support of the grieving family.
