50 Cent Loses Bid to Block Horror Film ‘Skillhouse’ Release

50 Cent just suffered an unexpected legal setback. The rap mogul’s attempt to block the upcoming horror movie Skillhouse—which he claims used his image and likeness without permission—has been denied by a federal judge.

This means the controversial film is still set to hit theaters nationwide on July 11, despite the rapper’s ongoing lawsuit against the producers.

⚖️ Judge Rules Against 50 Cent’s Injunction Request

On July 3, U.S. District Judge Hernán D. Vera denied 50 Cent’s request for a preliminary injunction, clearing the path for Skillhouse’s release through Fathom Events.

The lawsuit, filed in April by 50 and his company NYC Vibe, alleges that producers—led by Ryan Kavanaugh—exploited his name, voice, and likeness without authorization.

????️ “Here, the parties disagree as to the critical fact in the case: whether Jackson signed the Binding Term Sheet and/or Certificate of Employment… But even accepting Plaintiffs’ contention that no final Agreement was ever executed, the evidence raises numerous disputes of fact and law,” Judge Vera wrote in his ruling.

In plain terms, while 50 Cent insists there was no signed deal, the judge felt there are too many unanswered questions for an injunction to be granted.

???? Why 50 Cent Is Suing Over ‘Skillhouse’

The case centers around claims that 50 Cent and his son, Sire Jackson, participated in filming scenes for the project in 2022 under the assumption a formal contract would follow.

    According to court filings:

    • No finalized agreement was ever signed.
    • Neither 50 nor his son received payment.
    • 50 alleges the producers used his brand and likeness without consent.

The lawsuit accuses the defendants of:
    ✅ Trademark infringement
    ✅ False advertising
    ✅ Violation of publicity rights

????️ “The unauthorized use of my intellectual property could harm my reputation and business ventures,” 50 Cent argued.

    ????️ What Is ‘Skillhouse’ About?

Directed by Josh Stolberg, Skillhouse explores the dark side of influencer culture, offering a chilling look at fame and social media obsession.

    The film stars:

    • Bryce Hall (TikTok personality)
    • Paige VanZant (MMA fighter)
    • Neal McDonough (Desperate Housewives)

It was shot in 2022 and has already generated buzz online due to its edgy subject matter—and now, the added controversy with 50 Cent.

    ⚠️ What’s Next for 50 Cent’s Lawsuit?

While the judge’s ruling allows Skillhouse to move forward with its release, 50 Cent’s broader lawsuit is still active.

This means he could still secure damages or even have future distributions blocked if he wins in court.

For now, though, Skillhouse is set to debut in theaters on July 11 as planned.

???? Fans React to 50’s Legal Loss

Social media was quick to weigh in:

???? “50 usually wins these battles. This is rare!”
???? “Now I kinda wanna see what this movie is about.”
???? “He’ll probably get them in court later. It’s not over yet.”

???? What do you think? Should 50 Cent keep fighting, or is this battle already lost? Drop your thoughts below!
