Tina Knowles Defends Beyoncé Against Halftime Critics: “Obsessed and Addicted to Hating Her”

While millions of fans praised Beyoncé’s electrifying halftime performance during the Texans-Ravens NFL Christmas game, a small group of critics voiced their displeasure. Unwilling to let the negativity slide, Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, jumped to her defense on Instagram.

On Saturday, December 28, the 70-year-old posted a screenshot from X (formerly Twitter) that highlighted how criticism often accompanies greatness. The post read:
“Whether or not you like Beyoncé’s music, it is PROOF that no matter how undeniably talented you are, people will always have something negative to say. Watching Beyoncé made me stop caring about what others think of me.”

In her caption, Tina expressed disbelief at the energy some critics devoted to hating her daughter. “It’s mind-boggling to me that you’d take your precious Christmas day to watch someone you claim to dislike just to talk trash later [laughing emojis],” she wrote.

Tina went on to label Beyoncé’s critics as “obsessed” and “addicted,” suggesting that some secretly admire her. “Go to another channel during halftime—watch goofy cartoons or Bozo the Clown, something you can relate to. Said with love [heart emojis].”

She concluded with an empowering message inspired by Beyoncé’s resilience: “I’ve learned so much from her warrior spirit. When they go low, I work harder. ‘No weapon formed against me shall prosper.’ Waiting for the fake bots to show up in 3, 2, 1.”

Despite the criticism, Beyoncé’s performance was a major success, drawing over 27 million viewers—the most for an NFL Christmas game since 2001. Her 15-minute set featured songs from her Cowboy Carter album, blending southern flair with a spectacular display of talent.
