Nicole Kidman delivered a heartfelt and tearful acceptance speech at the Palm Springs International Film Awards, dedicating her recognition to her late mother, Janelle. The Oscar-winning actress received the International Star Award for her performance in the movie Babygirl. The award was presented by Hollywood legend Jamie Lee Curtis during Friday’s festival in California.

    A Tribute to Her Parents

Stepping up to the mic, Kidman immediately addressed the profound loss of her mother, who passed away in September. In a touching moment captured on video, Kidman shared that returning home for Christmas brought the realization that she had lost both of her parents. Her father, Antony Kidman, had died in 2014.

“My parents gave me the love and resilience to keep moving forward,” Kidman said, her voice trembling with emotion. She credited their influence for her strength and perseverance.

    Acknowledging Babygirl and Halina Reijn

Kidman expressed gratitude to Babygirl director Halina Reijn for entrusting her with the role. She also thanked Reijn for accepting an award on her behalf at the Venice Film Festival in September, an event Kidman abruptly left upon learning of her mother’s passing.

“This film has been a transformative experience, and I’m grateful for Halina’s vision and trust,” Kidman said. Her acknowledgment underscored the deep personal and professional connections she found in the project.

    Dedicating the Award

Kidman closed her speech by dedicating the International Star Award to her mother. With tears streaming down her face, she honored Janelle’s memory, saying, “This is for you, Mom.” The emotional moment resonated deeply with the audience, many of whom were moved by her vulnerability and sincerity.

The Palm Springs International Film Awards provided a platform for Kidman to reflect on her personal loss while celebrating her artistic achievements. It was a poignant reminder of the power of resilience and the enduring influence of loved ones.
