Contrary to earlier reports, Tyler Robinson did not use Discord to plan or hide the murder of Charlie Kirk, TMZ has confirmed.

A spokesperson for Discord told TMZ:

“In the course of our investigation, we identified a Discord account associated with the suspect, but have found no evidence that the suspect planned this incident or promoted violence on Discord.”

    What Really Happened

The clarification comes after multiple media outlets suggested Robinson used Discord to coordinate the attack or conceal the weapon. Discord explained that the alleged messages were not on its platform at all:

    • The communications were between Robinson’s roommate and a friend after the shooting.
    • They recounted a note Robinson had left elsewhere, off-platform, that mentioned a rifle being left in a bush, wrapped in a towel.
    • Discord confirmed that Robinson’s account has now been removed from the platform.

Authorities say that Robinson did make a “joke” on Discord, but it was unrelated to the attack, and the platform itself was not involved in planning or execution of the crime.

    Investigation Update

Utah authorities maintain that Robinson acted alone in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, though the investigation remains ongoing.

The clarification helps set the record straight, removing previous claims linking Discord to premeditation or concealment of evidence.

“Messages referenced in recent reporting about planning details do not appear to be Discord messages,” the spokesperson added, emphasizing that the notes were written offline and shared with a roommate, not posted on the platform.

    Pop Radar Take

This update highlights the importance of accurate reporting in high-profile criminal cases, especially when social media platforms are involved. Misattributing communications can fuel misinformation and public misunderstanding about the tools or platforms implicated in violent incidents.

As the case develops, authorities continue to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and examine Robinson’s actions leading up to the tragic shooting.

    Key Details

    • Discord account: Linked to Robinson, now removed
    • Planning: No evidence of plotting murder on platform
    • Notes: Rifle details shared offline with roommate
    • Investigation: Ongoing; Robinson believed to have acted alone
