2024 Reignites Uganda’s Music Scene: Rising Stars to Watch in 2025

The year 2024 has been a resurgence for several artists who had faded from the charts, including Lil Pazo, Recho Rey, Da Agent, and Rickman Manrick. Lil Pazo’s hit jam “Enkudi” not only dominated the charts for months but also fueled a highly successful concert.

Alongside these comebacks, fresh talents have emerged, showcasing remarkable potential and solidifying their positions in Uganda’s music industry. Artists like Acidic Vokoz, Ava Peace, and Nandor Love stood out in 2024, leaving fans eager for what 2025 holds.

Here are some of the promising stars we believe are set to shine even brighter in 2025:

    1. Kapeke

Born Derrick Nsubuga, Kapeke made waves with his hit collaboration with Rickman Manrick titled “Swiririri.” He followed this success with bangers like “Akasanyalaze,” “Shuu,” and “Polokoto.”

Kapeke’s creativity and consistency place him among the most promising rising stars, and we anticipate his artistic evolution to continue impressing in 2025.

    2. JPC Again

Known offstage as John Chris Kasajja, JPC Again has carved a niche for himself with his unique lyrical delivery and captivating composition. His standout tracks, including “Broke As I Am,” “Quickie” (featuring Kin Bella), “Missionary,” “Money Not Love,” and “Sugar Mama,” have cemented his status as a star on the rise.

With the backing of renowned producer Uncle, JPC Again’s music promises to keep the industry vibrant and innovative.

    3. Laty Wizy

Latif Birinda, popularly known as Laty Wizy, has been capturing hearts with his silky-smooth RnB vocals. Songs like “Edalu,” “Tula Awo,” “Nsobi,” “Babiri,” and “Hello” have won him a dedicated fanbase.

Laty Wizy credits Carol Nantongo for her mentorship and support during his musical journey, and his determination signals more soulful melodies in 2025.

    4. Pretty Banks

Pretty Banks has showcased versatility by excelling across multiple genres. Her breakout single “Insido” left a lasting impression in 2024, while follow-up hits like “Meant to Be” and “Don’t Touch Me” demonstrated her artistic range.

Additionally, her earlier songs, including “Kuwooma,” “Bakunsimemu,” and “Bakundekere,” have resurfaced, introducing more fans to her undeniable talent.

    5. D-Star

D-Star took the nation by surprise with his hit track “Hoozambe” and later followed up with “Jane.” With a strong foundation already in place, D-Star has the potential to capitalize on his momentum in 2025, solidifying his presence in the industry.
