The woman accusing Jay-Z of sexual assault is firing back at claims that she recanted her allegations. She now insists that the private investigators hired by the rap mogul lied in their declarations to the court and misrepresented their conversation with her.
Just one day after Jay-Z’s legal team released a recorded conversation in which she allegedly denied the rape allegations, the accuser—identified as Jane Doe—filed new legal documents disputing the legitimacy of the recording and the investigators’ accounts.
Accuser Claims P.I.s “Ambushed” Her
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Charlotte Henderson and James Butler—two private investigators hired by Jay-Z’s team—showed up unannounced at her Alabama home.
Doe says she was shocked and terrified when they arrived, claiming she was not “calm, natural, or at ease” as the investigators previously stated. She insists that she was trembling throughout the conversation and felt pressured.
She Denies Recanting Her Allegations
A key argument in Jay-Z’s defense has been that Doe allegedly told the investigators—multiple times—that Jay-Z did not assault her following the 2000 VMAs in New York City.
However, in her new court filings, Doe denies ever making such a statement, saying:
“I never stated (whether once or 4 times) that Mr. Carter did not assault me.”
While the recording released by Jay-Z’s legal team does capture her responding “Yeah” when asked if Jay did not commit any “sexual acts” against her, she is now claiming that her response was misinterpreted or taken out of context.
Dispute Over Tony Buzbee’s Involvement
Another point of contention is her attorney, Tony Buzbee. The recording includes a portion where Doe allegedly says Buzbee “pushed her” into pursuing legal action against Jay-Z.
However, she is denying this outright, claiming she never made such a statement. Her new legal filing refutes the exact quote attributed to her, arguing that the investigators twisted her words.
What Does This Mean for Jay-Z?
Despite Jane Doe voluntarily dismissing her lawsuit, Jay-Z is now taking legal action against her and Buzbee, claiming they lied, fabricated evidence, and damaged his reputation.
With both sides now disputing the accuracy of the recording, this legal battle is far from over—and every detail will be scrutinized in court.
