D4vd‘s newly assigned public defender is seeking more direct time with the singer as he prepares the defense in the case involving the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the attorney asked a judge to facilitate an in-person meeting with D4vd in a private area of the Los Angeles jail where the singer is being held.
The public defender said the meeting is necessary to provide D4vd with effective assistance of counsel and review evidence being presented in the case.
That evidence includes social media material and potentially video evidence, according to the court filing.
The judge approved the request the following day, allowing the attorney to meet with D4vd privately.
The lawyer also indicated that he needs to bring a laptop to the meeting so he can go through the evidence with his client.
D4vd is accused in connection with the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The allegations against him have not been established as facts in court.
The latest development comes weeks after D4vd’s previous legal team — attorneys Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski and Regina Peter — withdrew from the case.
Those attorneys had represented the singer before a public defender was assigned to take over his defense. Their departure was linked to D4vd no longer having the funds to pay the legal team, according to the earlier report.
The new attorney’s request signals a focus on reviewing the evidence with D4vd directly as the defense prepares for the proceedings ahead.
For now, the case remains active, with the newly assigned public defender working through the evidence against his client.
