Jalen Brunson wasn’t about to let a cross-country flight—or a little jet lag—keep him from celebrating Fat Joe’s 56th birthday.
The New York Knicks star made a surprise appearance at the rapper’s star-studded birthday bash in Manhattan this weekend, arriving just hours after flying back from the Los Angeles area.
Brunson had been in Southern California for the wedding of his Knicks teammate Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods in Malibu on Saturday. But by Sunday, he was back on a plane headed east.
And he made it just in time for the party.
Brunson pulled up to the celebration at Radio Park atop Radio City Music Hall, where Fat Joe was surrounded by a serious lineup of music and sports stars.

Among those in attendance were Allen Iverson and DJ Khaled, along with Teyana Taylor, Yung Miami, Mary J. Blige, Jadakiss, N.O.R.E., Raekwon, Fabolous, Remy Ma, Rick Brunson and DJ Envy.
The guest list made it clear this wasn’t your average birthday dinner. Fat Joe’s longtime connections across hip-hop, sports and New York culture were on full display as the Bronx rap legend celebrated another trip around the sun.
Brunson’s appearance was particularly notable because of the timing. He had already traveled to California for Towns’ wedding, then made the return trip to New York so he could be there for Joe’s big night.

The celebration also came with a very New York finishing touch.
Fat Joe was presented with a custom Knicks-themed birthday cake featuring the New York City skyline—a fitting centerpiece for a party that brought together one of the city’s biggest rap figures and one of its biggest current sports stars.
For Brunson, apparently, some serious mileage was a small price to pay for showing up for a friend.
