Famous Dex’s August 23 arrest in Las Vegas came with an unexpected moment of friendliness: bodycam footage shows the rapper and the arresting officer repeatedly fist-bumping while talking about Dex’s planned performance.
TMZ obtained the footage, which captures Dex telling the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer that he was supposed to perform that night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
The officer immediately appears impressed, asking, “Bro, you’re performing at the Grand Arena?”
Dex says he is and mentions Playboi Carti, Future and other performers. The officer responds, “You guys are about to have a blast,” before the two exchange fist bumps.
The moment stands out because Dex was in the middle of being arrested over allegations involving influencer Pam Rodriguez, with whom he had been in a romantic relationship for three weeks.
There is also a notable wrinkle in Dex’s account of the night. In the footage, he denies getting physical with Rodriguez, telling the officer they “didn’t fight or do anything.” Dex also suggests Rodriguez may be trying to take advantage of the situation because she is “money hungry.”
Dex tells the officer that he left laptops and other belongings inside their hotel room and says he simply wants to retrieve his property and leave.
The arrest followed an August 22 incident in Las Vegas in which police say Dex allegedly scratched and choked Rodriguez. That came one day after Rodriguez accused him of punching her in the eye in Burbank.
Rodriguez has said she suffered a black eye, busted lip and other injuries. Dex has denied the allegations.
There was another curious detail in the bodycam exchange: Dex told the officer that Playboi Carti and Future were among the artists performing alongside him, but the footage’s account does not appear to line up with the artists’ reported schedules that day. Playboi Carti appeared to be performing in Dublin, Ireland, while Future does not appear to have had a Las Vegas show that night.
So, amid an arrest centered on serious allegations, the bodycam captured a strangely casual detour into concert talk — complete with multiple fist bumps before Dex was taken into custody.
