Jordyn Woods is setting the record straight about Jaden Smith’s prominent role in her wedding to NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns after social media users questioned why the longtime friend was involved in so many intimate moments.
Woods, 28, addressed the chatter in a TikTok post Aug. 29, sharing a montage of photos documenting her friendship with Smith from childhood through adulthood.
The questions began after Woods and Towns’ Aug. 15 wedding in Malibu, where Smith was seen participating in several events surrounding the ceremony.

Social media users wondered why Smith was photographed with the bridesmaids at the bridal shower and why he was helping Towns with his shoes and other wedding preparations.
Woods had a simple explanation.
“Because he’s never missed an important moment in my life,” she wrote over the video.
According to Woods, her friendship with Smith goes all the way back to their toddler years. She attributed the beginning of their relationship in part to her late father, John Woods, who worked as a sound engineer on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”
For Woods, Smith’s presence at her wedding was therefore about far more than simply being a celebrity guest.
She described him as a consistent source of support throughout her life, including during some of her most difficult moments.

Woods recalled that Smith was there for her father’s funeral and said he was also the first person she called after Towns proposed on Christmas Day 2025.
“I’m so lucky I’ve never had to know a life without our friendship,” Woods wrote in the caption, describing Smith as the “epitome of a day ONE.”
Smith also had a special reason for being involved in Towns’ wedding-day preparations.
The rapper was recently named the first men’s creative director for Maison Christian Louboutin and personally designed a custom pair of the brand’s signature red-soled shoes for Towns, who wears a size 20.
Smith shared photos of himself helping Towns put on the custom footwear, celebrating both the wedding and his friendship with the couple.
“My Best Friend Got Married And I Made Karl Size 20 Red Bottoms,” Smith wrote. “Jordyn I Love You So Much. Congratulations Karl I Love You Bro.”
Smith was not officially part of the bridal party, but Woods made clear that his involvement was never something she questioned.
After years of friendship and countless major moments shared together, his presence at her wedding was simply another chapter in a relationship that began when they were children.
Woods ended her response by looking ahead, joking that she cannot wait to return the favor when Smith eventually gets married.
For Woods, the message to the critics was clear: Jaden Smith was not an unexpected addition to her wedding. He was there because he has been there for her for most of her life.
