Universal Pictures is loading up its Snoop Dogg biopic with even more hip-hop history — and The Notorious B.I.G. is officially part of the story.
SwayvoTwain has been cast as Biggie in “Snoop,” with Bentley Green portraying RBX and Los Angeles rapper G Perico taking on the role of Big Reecie Cup.
Jonathan Daviss stars as Snoop Dogg in the film, which Universal has described as the “definitive biopic” of the rap icon.
And the latest casting adds some serious West Coast-meets-East Coast history to the movie.
Christopher Wallace, better known as The Notorious B.I.G., became one of hip-hop’s defining figures during the 1990s. Despite being associated with the East Coast rap scene while Snoop represented the West Coast, the two rappers shared mutual respect.
Snoop was one of the biggest names associated with Death Row Records during its West Coast reign, while RBX was also part of the label’s early history after signing with Death Row alongside his cousin, Snoop.
Big Reecie Cup, meanwhile, connects the story directly to Snoop’s Long Beach roots and the people surrounding the rapper before worldwide superstardom.
The rest of the cast is stacked with major names from Snoop’s story.
Myles Bullock plays Dr. Dre, while Camron Jones portrays Tupac Shakur. Lauren London takes on the role of Snoop’s late mother, Beverly Tate.
Algee Smith is Warren G, Tre Hale plays Suge Knight, Laya DeLeon Hayes portrays Snoop’s wife Shanté Broadus, Olly Sholotan plays Kurupt and Corey Champagne takes on the role of Nate Dogg.
Jonica Booth also joins the cast as The Lady of Rage.
For SwayvoTwain, the Biggie role represents his first major movie part. The artist and songwriter is the son of late soul singer Angie Stone and R&B icon D’Angelo.
Green comes to the project with credits including “61st Street,” “Snowfall” and “White Men Can’t Jump,” while G Perico brings both his music and acting experience to the film.
Craig Brewer is directing “Snoop” after rewriting the screenplay from Joe Robert Cole’s original script.
Universal has scheduled the movie for a theatrical release on Aug. 6, 2027.
Snoop Dogg is producing alongside Imagine Entertainment and Death Row Pictures, with the film set to feature music from his extensive catalog.
The project is also the first production under Death Row Pictures’ overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios.
With Biggie, Tupac, Dre, Suge Knight, Nate Dogg and other key figures now woven into the cast, “Snoop” is shaping up to be much more than a Snoop Dogg story — it’s a trip straight through hip-hop history.
