50 Cent has an Emmy win attached to Sean Combs: The Reckoning — but apparently, he’s still not feeling like he came out on top.
Following the September 5 Emmy ceremony, the G-Unit mogul took to Instagram to celebrate the recognition connected to the Netflix documentary examining Sean “Diddy” Combs.
“I won a Emmy still think I’m taking a L,” 50 Cent wrote.
Then he gave his supporters another reason to celebrate.
“GLG GreenLightGang we don’t miss,” he added.
The Emmy recognition went to the documentary’s editing team, rather than 50 Cent personally receiving an individual acting or producing award.
Supervising editors Charles Divak and Evan Wise were among the credited recipients, while lead editor Jack Gravina also received the honor alongside editors Benji Kast, Adam Goldstein, Jonathan Miller and Jeremy Siefer.
Still, 50 Cent’s connection to the project is significant.
The rapper served as an executive producer on Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which was directed by Alexandria Stapleton. The documentary also received nominations for Documentary or Nonfiction Series and Documentary/Nonfiction Directing.
The project arrived as scrutiny surrounding Diddy’s career and legacy intensified, examining his rise, influence and controversies while revisiting his place in Hip-Hop history.
And with 50 Cent attached as an executive producer, the documentary carried another layer of intrigue.
The G-Unit founder and Diddy have maintained a very public rivalry for years, with 50 frequently using social media to take shots at the Bad Boy Records founder.
That history made his involvement in a documentary centered on Diddy particularly notable.
The Emmy adds another major television achievement to 50 Cent’s growing résumé as he continues expanding his career beyond music and into production.
But true to form, he didn’t exactly treat the win like a traditional victory speech.
The project got the Emmy. His team got the recognition.
And 50 Cent still says he’s taking the L.
