Tay Keith’s estate is facing nearly $200,000 in creditor claims following the hip-hop producer’s death in June, with American Express and Bank of America seeking payment through his probate case.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, American Express National Bank filed two separate claims against the estate this week. One seeks roughly $60,000 tied to a Business Platinum account, while another seeks about $27,000 from a Platinum account.
That is not the only outstanding debt being claimed against the estate.
Bank of America has also filed a claim connected to Tay’s 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS, saying the estate owes the financial institution approximately $115,000.
Together, the three claims amount to more than $198,000.
The creditor claims come as Tay Keith’s estate is being handled through probate. A notice published in the case invited anyone who believed the producer owed them money to come forward with their claims.
Despite the debts being presented against the estate, Tay left behind substantial assets when he died, including his music catalog and royalties, bank accounts, real estate, business interests and luxury vehicles, including a Lamborghini and the Mercedes-Benz.
The financial claims arrive as more details surrounding the producer’s death have also emerged. The Nashville Medical Examiner determined that Tay died from the toxic effects of ketamine and mitragynine, an active compound in kratom.
Tay Keith, whose work helped shape numerous major hip-hop records, died in June at a time when his estate included both valuable music assets and other property.
The newly filed claims will now become part of the probate process as creditors seek payment from the estate.
