Pink’s role as a UNICEF ambassador is facing renewed scrutiny after a Change.org petition calling for her removal gained more than 150,000 verified signatures.
The petition was launched in September following a dispute involving rapper Macklemore and his public support for Palestinians during Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour.
The campaign argues that Pink’s response to Macklemore conflicts with what its organizers believe should be expected from a UNICEF ambassador. The petition calls on UNICEF to reconsider her position and says ambassadors should represent children affected by conflict regardless of nationality or political affiliation.
As of Sept. 22, Change.org’s listing showed the petition had passed 150,000 signatures, although the number has continued to change as people sign.
The campaign itself does not constitute a decision by UNICEF.
UNICEF’s current official roster lists P!nk as a U.S. national ambassador appointed in 2015. The organization’s ambassador program says its representatives help raise awareness of challenges facing children and mobilize support for UNICEF’s work.
The controversy began after Macklemore used his opening performances on Sheeran’s U.S. tour to express support for Palestinians.
At MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sept. 4, Macklemore said “Free Palestine” during his performance and spoke about people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. He also performed his protest song “Hind’s Hall.”

Macklemore later said his message was about peace, human rights and equal dignity.
The fallout eventually led to Macklemore being removed from the remaining U.S. dates of Sheeran’s tour. Sheeran subsequently said the decision was made by the tour promoter and venue owners rather than by him.
Pink then became part of the wider debate after responding to criticism of Macklemore’s comments. She has referred to her Jewish heritage while also expressing concern for Palestinian civilians and saying Palestinians deserve a future that respects their humanity and aspirations.
The petition, however, argues that Pink’s public position does not align with the humanitarian principles its organizers believe a UNICEF ambassador should uphold.
“An ambassador should unify, not divide, and should always maintain neutrality to ensure they are trusted voices for universal child welfare,” the petition states.
The campaign also specifically highlights Palestinian children affected by the war in Gaza and calls for what organizers describe as stronger support for children affected by the conflict.
The petition’s language reflects the views of its organizers and signatories, rather than an official UNICEF finding about Pink’s conduct or status.
As of Sept. 22, UNICEF’s published roster continues to list P!nk in its ambassador program.
The dispute therefore remains a clash over how a celebrity ambassador’s public political and humanitarian statements should intersect with a child-focused international organization — with the petition continuing to gather signatures while UNICEF has not announced Pink’s removal.
