Iggy Azalea is back in the studio — despite spending the past several years insisting she was done with music.
The Australian-born rapper revealed on Instagram that she has started recording again, sharing photos from the studio while opening up about her complicated relationship with music and her decision to revisit her career.
“I am back recording music,” Azalea wrote.
The announcement comes after years of publicly stepping away from rap. Azalea has repeatedly discussed her retirement and previously indicated that she had no plans to return to the music industry.
But apparently, the urge to create never completely disappeared.
“Is that a bad idea? Maybe. Probably. Definitely,” she added.
Azalea explained that music remains closely tied to her identity, admitting that walking away from it has sometimes made her question who she is without creating.
She also acknowledged feeling anxious about social media, despite enjoying a private life away from the spotlight. According to Azalea, fans regularly ask when she plans to release new music, adding another layer of pressure around the subject.
After months — and potentially years — of reconsidering her future, Azalea said she ultimately decided that running away from something was not in her nature.
“Anyway blah blah blah… after months (maybe years) of pondering I’ve decided it’s unlike me to run away from anything in life,” she wrote.
That realization pushed her back into the studio.
Azalea said she wanted to make sure she was not also running away from herself by abandoning music completely. After recording, she said she drove home feeling “really fucking happy.”
That reaction appears to have convinced her to keep going.
“Baby steps my darlings but I fear I may be coming…” Azalea teased.
The potential comeback marks a significant shift from her previous position.
In 2024, Azalea said she would not finish her next album. She later reinforced that stance, saying in November 2025, “I don’t want to come back.”
Now, she is recording again.
There is still no confirmed release date or announcement of a new project, meaning Azalea’s return remains at the studio stage for now.
But after years of saying she was finished with rap, Iggy Azalea is once again behind the microphone — and this time, she sounds genuinely happy to be there.
