Kim Kardashian says spending years single after her split from Kanye West turned out to be exactly what she needed — and she wasn’t in any hurry to change it.
The SKIMS founder opened up about her dating life in an interview with The Times, revealing that she was “really single for five years,” aside from her relationship with Pete Davidson, after filing for divorce from West in 2021.
Rather than viewing the stretch without a relationship as a lonely period, Kardashian said the opposite was true.

“I was really single for five years … And that felt great,” she said. “I could focus on my kids and projects that I really wanted to be involved with. I really felt no rush.”
That lack of urgency appears to have been a major part of Kardashian’s approach. She said being single “didn’t feel empty” and that she simply “needed my time.”
The reality star also described the period as an opportunity to heal and focus on herself before becoming emotionally available again.
“I wanted to completely heal and just work on myself. I wasn’t ready to open up. I really wasn’t even thinking about it,” Kardashian said. “The universe works in your favor when you just allow it to.”
Kardashian’s comments come as she is now linked to Lewis Hamilton, though she wasn’t willing to discuss that relationship during the interview.
When asked about Hamilton, Kardashian politely declined to get into details, saying, “In the most respectful way, I’d probably rather not.”
Still, the pair have been publicly connected. They have shared photos of each other on Instagram this summer, following earlier appearances together.

The two were previously seen in Aspen, Colorado, where they attended Kate Hudson’s New Year’s Eve party, and later attended the Super Bowl together in February.
So while Kardashian isn’t opening up about where things stand with Hamilton, she has made one thing clear about her years alone: she wasn’t waiting around for someone to complete the picture. She was using the time to focus on herself, her children and the life she wanted.
