Robert Kelker-Kelly, best known for playing Bo Brady on “Days of Our Lives,” has died at 62.
The Missouri medical examiner told TMZ that Kelker-Kelly died October 3. His cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Kelker-Kelly launched his acting career in 1987 on “Another World,” where he played Sam Fowler.
Five years later, he landed the role that would make him a familiar face to soap opera viewers. Kelker-Kelly joined “Days of Our Lives” in 1992 as Bo Brady, taking over the character from Peter Reckell.
During his run on the NBC soap, Kelker-Kelly played Bo opposite Kristian Alfonso, who portrayed Hope Brady, as well as Lisa Rinna, who played Billie Reed. Reckell eventually returned to the role in 1995.
Kelker-Kelly’s name resurfaced in the headlines earlier this year after Rinna discussed their working relationship in her memoir.
Rinna alleged that Kelker-Kelly was verbally abusive and manipulative toward her and claimed he played mind games with her during their time working together. She also alleged that his abrupt departure from “Days of Our Lives” led NBC to provide security for her and Alfonso for several weeks.
Kelker-Kelly did not publicly respond to Rinna’s allegations. The claims were presented in Rinna’s memoir and were not established as facts in the material available.
After “Days of Our Lives,” Kelker-Kelly continued working in daytime television, later appearing on “General Hospital” as Stavros Cassadine.
His career extended beyond acting as well. Kelker-Kelly also worked professionally as a pilot.
For soap opera fans, however, his legacy will remain closely tied to Bo Brady, the character he portrayed during a pivotal stretch of “Days of Our Lives” in the 1990s.
Kelker-Kelly’s death was confirmed October 3, with his cause of death still unknown.
He was 62.
