Lil Wayne has Anita Baker at the top of his wedding wish list, revealing that the legendary R&B singer would be his first choice to perform when he marries fiancée Madi Cannon.
The rapper shared his preferred wedding entertainer during a Wednesday appearance on The Joint Venture Show. Asked by host Craig Carton who he would want to sing at the ceremony, Wayne immediately named the voice behind the classic hit âSweet Love.â
âMy first choice, of course, would be Miss Anita Baker,â Wayne said.
However, the hip-hop star acknowledged that Baker might not be available. He said he had heard the 68-year-old singer could be getting tired of performing and made it clear he would not want to put her under pressure to take the gig.
If Baker cannot make it, Wayne already has two major R&B names in mind: Keith Sweat and Babyface.
Both artists have established legacies in R&B, making them fitting alternatives for a wedding soundtrack chosen by a rapper who has spent decades at the top of hip-hop. Wayne, however, is leaving one important decision to his future wife.
While he has a clear preference for who should perform, he said Cannon would get to choose the song.

The conversation comes as Wayne’s relationship with Cannon moves further into the public eye. In late September, the rapper appeared in a video shared by fellow Hot Boys member B.G., publicly indicating that he planned to marry the 23-year-old social media influencer.
The moment followed months of speculation about their engagement. Reports first emerged in May, but Wayne denied being engaged in July. His more recent comments and public introduction of Cannon as his fiancĂ©e have since pointed to a change in the couple’s relationship status.
Neither Wayne nor Cannon has publicly announced a wedding date, leaving fans without a confirmed timeline for the ceremony.
Away from his personal life, Wayne is continuing his â20 Years Of Carter Classicsâ tour, celebrating the legacy of his Tha Carter album series.
The rapper has previously been engaged to model LaâTecia Thomas and singer Nivea. He shares children with Nivea, Toya Johnson, Lauren London and Sarah Vivan.
For now, Wayne has made his musical preference clear: Anita Baker is his dream wedding performer, with Keith Sweat and Babyface waiting in the wings if his first choice cannot attend.
