Law Roach is opening up about why Keke Palmer ended their working relationship during her pregnancy, admitting that he struggled to deliver the looks she wanted while respecting her decision to keep her baby bump out of the spotlight.
The celebrity stylist revisited the disagreement during the October 20 episode of Aspire with Emma Grede. In a video shared by Spill, Roach explained that Palmer wanted to keep her pregnancy private, while his instincts as a stylist pushed him toward outfits that highlighted her changing silhouette.
That difference in approach ultimately affected his ability to do the job.
“I couldn’t get the looks right,” Roach told Grede, acknowledging that even his experience styling some of Hollywood’s biggest names did not guarantee he could meet Palmer’s specific needs at that moment.
Roach recalled Palmer calling him to explain that, despite his reputation, he was not the right stylist for her. He said he understood her decision and did not interpret it as a personal rejection.
Instead, he viewed the situation as a matter of recognizing what a client needed and accepting when he could not provide it.
Palmer was waiting until she felt ready to announce her pregnancy publicly. She eventually revealed the news during her December 2022 hosting debut on Saturday Night Live, showing her baby bump during her opening monologue. She welcomed her son, Leodis, in February 2023.
The disagreement highlights how personal considerations can shape celebrity styling decisions, particularly when public figures are managing major life events while maintaining control over what they share with audiences.
This is not the first time Roach and Palmer have discussed the end of their professional partnership. They revisited the story at an October 2024 event promoting Roach’s book, How to Build a Fashion Icon. Their conversation remained warm, with Palmer even teasing the stylist about his enjoyment of a well-timed verbal jab.
Roach also addressed the situation on Palmer’s podcast in July 2025. His latest account maintains the same central point: he struggled to deliver what she wanted, and he respected her decision to make a change.
Rather than presenting the split as a bitter falling-out, Roach said he tells the story with pride because Palmer knew what she wanted and acted accordingly.
The episode offers a glimpse into the practical challenges behind celebrity image-making. Even when a stylist and client have a strong history together, their professional relationship still depends on meeting the needs of a particular moment.
For Roach, Palmer’s decision was ultimately understandable: she wanted privacy during her pregnancy, and he recognized that he was not delivering the styling approach she needed.
