Alijah Arenas, the 18-year-old USC commit, is now resting comfortably at home, just days after surviving a serious Cybertruck crash. The basketball phenom’s family shared an update on his condition, confirming that although he is still at the beginning stages of recovery, his spirit remains strong.

In a statement provided to TMZ Sports, the Arenas and Govan families expressed their gratitude for the support they’ve received from fans, friends, and the community. They revealed that Alijah is “resting comfortably under close watch”, focusing on his healing.

    Alijah’s Road to Recovery

“While his journey to full recovery is just beginning, his spirit remains strong, and he is surrounded by love and support,” the families wrote in their statement Wednesday. “The Govan and Arenas family are preparing for the road ahead with faith and determination, committed to nurturing Alijah back to 100%. He remains blessed, resilient, and in high spirits.”

The family emphasized that their primary focus is Alijah’s health and well-being, thanking everyone for their continued support during this challenging time. Although Alijah’s basketball future wasn’t directly mentioned, it’s clear that his recovery as a person is the priority, with the sport coming second.

Details of the Crash and Alijah’s Recovery

As previously reported, Alijah was driving his luxury Tesla Cybertruck early last Thursday morning when the vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree. The crash caused the car to catch fire, but quick-thinking bystanders managed to pull Alijah from the wreckage.

Doctors treated Alijah for high levels of carbon dioxide ingestion from the fire, leading to him being intubated and placed in an induced coma for further treatment. Fortunately, despite the severity of the crash, Alijah suffered no major injuries.

Earlier this week, his family shared encouraging news — Alijah had made significant progress, being able to walk and talk as he continues to improve.

    A Bright Future Ahead

While Alijah’s basketball career was not the primary concern at this moment, he remains a high school basketball star set to join the USC Trojans next season. The family’s statement indicates that Alijah’s recovery will be prioritized before any discussions about his sports career.

The Arenas family is confident in Alijah’s resilience, and with ongoing support, they are hopeful for a full recovery.

Support and Well Wishes for Alijah Arenas

We continue to send our thoughts and prayers to Alijah Arenas and his family during this difficult time. Fans, friends, and the basketball community are rallying behind him, hoping to see him back on the court stronger than ever.
