GloRilla Makes a Difference in Her Hometown
This holiday season, Memphis rap sensation GloRilla is spreading cheer and giving back to the community that shaped her. The Melrose High School graduate stunned students by donating $25,000 to establish a new library space named The Gloria H. Woods Media Center, honoring her real name.
The updated library will feature advanced technology, flexible seating, and an interactive learning environment aimed at improving literacy and supporting the Orange Mound community.
Speaking about her contribution, GloRilla shared, “It feels great. I feel blessed that I’m able to even do that, you know? I always wished somebody could do that when I was going to school, so the fact that I have the ability to do it now, it just—it warms my heart.”
The revamped media center is expected to be completed by the end of the summer, providing students with an inspiring and modern space for learning.
Potential Collaboration with Sexyy Redd
In other exciting news, GloRilla has hinted at a potential collaboration album with fellow rapper Sexyy Redd. During an interview with XXL, the two discussed their standout years and their shared creative vision for a future project.
When asked about what fans could expect from their collaboration, GloRilla enthusiastically replied, “Ratchet as fuck,” while Sexyy Redd added, “It gon’ be some super ratchet shit. The n-ggas gon’ hate us. No, I mean the men gon’ hate us.”
Despite their playful remarks, the duo agreed their collaboration would resonate with listeners. Sexyy Redd elaborated, “Because we both trench-certified, you know? Two young ladies.” GloRilla confirmed their shared ambition, stating, “You know we gotta do it.”
