The music world is in shock and mourning as news spreads of Robbie Pardlo, lead singer of the Grammy-nominated R&B group City High, who has tragically passed away at the age of 46.

A representative for the singer confirmed to TMZ that Pardlo died on July 17 in Willingboro, New Jersey, surrounded by his family and close friends.

At this time, no cause of death has been revealed as his loved ones begin planning memorial services and tributes to honor his life and legacy.

“We are heartbroken,” said a family spokesperson. “Robbie touched countless lives through his music and spirit. He will be deeply missed.”

A Voice That Defined a Generation

Robbie Pardlo rose to fame in the early 2000s as a member of the R&B trio City High, alongside Claudette Ortiz and Ryan Toby.

Their debut single, the Wyclef Jean-produced “What Would You Do?”, became an anthem for a generation, peaking at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning critical acclaim for its raw storytelling about poverty and survival.

City High’s follow-up hit, “Caramel” featuring Eve, also climbed the charts, peaking at No. 18, and cementing the group’s place in R&B history. Their debut album achieved RIAA Gold certification and landed them a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group in 2002.

A Life Beyond City High

Though City High disbanded while working on a second album—citing creative differences and internal tensions—Robbie’s musical journey didn’t stop there.

He joined the R&B group First Take and collaborated with icons like Whitney Houston and Lil’ Kim, further proving his versatility and vocal talent.

Outside of music, Robbie was a devoted family man and a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan, celebrating their championship run earlier this year with his signature enthusiasm.

Family, Friends, and Fans Grieve

Robbie leaves behind his loving wife, Anika Pardlo, their two children, Lyric and Chord-Andrew Pardlo, and a legacy cherished by millions. He is also survived by his mother, Marion Pardlo, brother Gregory Pardlo—a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and professor—his aunt, Cynthia Boyer, and his beloved German Shepherd, Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge.

Tributes have already begun pouring in across social media:

???? “Rest in peace, Robbie Pardlo. Your voice was a soundtrack to our lives.”
???? “City High will forever be legendary. Gone too soon.”
???? “What Would You Do? will hit differently now. Fly high, King.”

The family has asked for privacy as they prepare to share memorial details in the coming days.

City High’s Legacy Lives On

City High’s music continues to resonate more than two decades later. “What Would You Do?” remains a staple on playlists and has been sampled and covered by artists inspired by its heartfelt message.

Ryan Toby, in a 2020 interview, reflected on the group’s short-lived run:

“There was turmoil in the group. The vibe and chemistry were off. But that first album… it was magic.”

Even after their split, Robbie’s contributions helped shape the sound of 2000s R&B, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
