Duke fans, take a deep breath—there’s a slight glimmer of hope regarding Cooper Flagg’s status. The highly-touted freshman and potential No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft was seen gingerly walking back onto the court to join his teammates on the bench after suffering a concerning ankle injury.
While his return to action Thursday seems unlikely, seeing him move under his own power is at least a positive sign for the Blue Devils.
Flagg’s Scary Injury Moment
The injury occurred in the first half of Duke’s ACC Tournament quarterfinal matchup against Georgia Tech. Flagg went up for a rebound, but as he came down, he rolled his ankle badly and immediately collapsed in visible pain.
Flagg had to be helped off the court by teammates, and moments later, he was spotted being wheeled around in a wheelchair—a sight that surely sent shockwaves through Duke’s fanbase.
No Official Update Yet
So far, Duke has yet to provide an official update on Flagg’s condition, other than ruling him “doubtful” for the rest of the game. However, if he is forced to miss an extended period, it could have major implications for the Blue Devils’ March Madness hopes.
Tournament Stakes Are High
With the ACC Tournament continuing through the weekend and the NCAA Tournament just days away, all eyes will be on Flagg’s recovery timeline. Duke fans—and college basketball fans everywhere—are hoping for the best and wishing him a speedy return to the court.
Get well soon, Coop!
