Hip-hop legend Jadakiss is putting the rumors to rest. The LOX rapper recently addressed social media chatter suggesting he had an easy, privileged upbringing — comparing his life to the sitcom-perfect family from The Cosby Show.
On the latest episode of his podcast Joe & Jada with Fat Joe, Jadakiss didn’t hold back:
“Some a**holes in the comments think I grew up like the Huxtables,” he said. “I don’t know what the f**k is wrong with these people, but coming from where we come from, it’s a beautiful thing to have both of your parents.”
“Both Parents Didn’t Mean Gold Spoons”
For Jadakiss, having a mother and father in his life wasn’t about luxury — it was about survival.
“Do that mean we wasn’t in the street? No. That mean our household had gold spoons? No. My moms bust her ass. My pops was on drugs. He was able to shake back. I was outside doing sht. I was smart in school, I was athletic, but I was outside.”*
He made it clear that while he was blessed to have both parents, his upbringing was still filled with challenges.
Addressing the Haters
The Yonkers native, known for his gritty lyricism and street credibility, expressed frustration at critics who try to discredit his authenticity just because he wasn’t raised in a broken home.
“Just ask the people, just ask the cops, just ask anybody you wanna ask. But for some reason these people… you can’t be standing up to your word if you have both of your parents. Are you some type of a**hole? It’s a blessing to have both of your parents.”
Jadakiss’ comments struck a chord with fans online, many of whom praised him for normalizing the idea that strength and credibility don’t require a broken family background.

Music Moves: Kiss The Mac with Beanie Sigel
Outside of setting the record straight on his upbringing, Jadakiss is keeping fans fed musically. The rapper recently announced a new joint album with Beanie Sigel titled Kiss The Mac.
The project will be executive-produced by Freeway and is expected to feature heavy appearances from The LOX and State Property — uniting two legendary crews under one roof.
Fans of hardcore East Coast rap are already buzzing, with many calling the collaboration a return to the raw sound that defined both rappers’ primes.
Fans React
Social media lit up after Jadakiss’ comments:
- “Finally, somebody said it. Having both parents is a blessing, not a weakness.”
- “Jada always been authentic. Nobody can question his credibility.”
- “This new album with Beanie Sigel gonna be legendary. Can’t wait.”
The Bottom Line
Jadakiss is reminding the culture that authenticity isn’t measured by tragedy — it’s measured by truth. He’s proud of where he came from, proud of his parents’ struggles, and unapologetic about the life he lived outside the house.
With a new project on the way, Jada is proving once again why his voice still carries so much weight in hip-hop.
