Jon Voight Teams Up with Donald Trump to ‘Save Hollywood’ — Warns It Could End Up Like Detroit

Actor Jon Voight says he’s partnering with former President Donald Trump in a high-stakes mission — not to revive a campaign, but to rescue Hollywood. In a new interview with Variety, Voight claims the film industry is in trouble, and he believes Trump’s controversial new 100% tariffs on foreign-made films are the first step toward a comeback.

Voight, known for his vocal support of Trump in the past, argues the entertainment capital is teetering on the edge, comparing it to a city that’s seen better days. “We can’t let it go down the drain like Detroit,” he warned.

Trump Tariffs and the Future of U.S. Film

Voight sees promise in Trump’s latest economic move — a tariff policy designed to push more film production back to U.S. soil. While the policy has sparked major debate in the entertainment world, Voight is optimistic. He says Trump genuinely cares about the industry and is committed to restoring it to its former Golden Age.

“This shouldn’t be political,” Voight emphasized. “I don’t distinguish people based on party affiliation. We’ve been talking to a lot of people across the industry.”

    Mixed Reactions from Hollywood

The response to Trump’s film tariff policy has been polarizing. Comedian Adam Carolla voiced his support, saying it could be good for American filmmakers. But Oscar-winning producer Charles Wessler slammed it as a “terrible idea” that could backfire.

Voight, however, is determined to push forward — insisting this isn’t about politics anymore. “The political fight is over,” he said. “Now it’s about coming together to save film in America.”

Whether Hollywood is ready to follow his lead remains to be seen — but one thing’s clear: Jon Voight and Donald Trump are setting the stage for a blockbuster-level showdown in the film industry.
