Sean “Diddy” Combs is once again flexing in the courtroom, and former Making The Band singer Sara Rivers is feeling the impact firsthand. A judge has dismissed the majority of Rivers’ claims against Diddy and co-defendants, marking another victory for the music mogul amid a slew of ongoing legal battles.
Legal documents obtained by TMZ reveal that the judge dismissed 21 of Rivers’ claims with prejudice, meaning they cannot be filed again. However, one claim remains unresolved — specifically, the Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act claim, which is stayed pending an appellate court ruling.
Claims Tossed Out Include Racketeering, Assault, and Sexual Harassment
Among the dismissed claims were serious allegations including:
- Racketeering
- Assault and battery
- Forced labor
- Sexual harassment
- False imprisonment
The lawsuit, initially filed in February, accused Diddy of creating a hostile and inhumane environment on the reality show Making The Band 2.
Rivers’ attorney, Ariel Mitchell, cited incidents like the infamous “cheesecake” task, where cast members were allegedly forced to walk several blocks to fetch Diddy a dessert, as an example of the mistreatment.
Sara also alleged she was forced to sleep in an open bay with four other males despite being married, and claims she faced threats of being ousted if she didn’t comply.
Diddy Accused of Career Sabotage and Sexual Misconduct
The lawsuit further claimed that Diddy acted maliciously and recklessly with Rivers’ career, publicly dismantling Da Band while allegedly pocketing most of the show’s earnings.
Rivers also alleged sexual harassment and assault, claiming Diddy once backed her into a corner and blocked her movement while touching her inappropriately.
The suit didn’t stop at Diddy, also naming MTV, Viacom, UMG, and ex-Bad Boy employees, including Diddy’s mother Janice Combs and ex-assistant Fonzworth Bentley.
Rivers Plans to Appeal
Mitchell told TMZ,
“We plan to appeal — and we look forward to more litigation specifically against Mr. Combs.”
The legal battle continues, with Diddy maintaining his momentum after previous courtroom victories. Earlier this summer, he was found not guilty on federal racketeering and sex trafficking charges, and just last month, he scored a major win against another sexual assault accuser.
TPR Takeaway:
While Diddy continues to face a gauntlet of lawsuits, this ruling marks a significant legal win for the mogul. For Rivers, one critical claim remains alive, meaning her fight in court is far from over.
