Kid Cudi has just cashed in on a major payday, earning over $850,000 by selling personal items through Pharrell’s auction platform, Joopiter. The auction, titled “On Another Planet: The Collection of Kid Cudi,” featured 75 exclusive and rare pieces from the rapper’s personal collection, including jewelry, sneakers, clothes, and artwork—each a testament to Cudi’s influence in the fashion and music worlds.
Top-Selling Items from Kid Cudi’s Collection
One of the standout items was a custom 14-karat gold N.E.R.D. pendant designed by Jacob & Co. and originally commissioned by Pharrell Williams in 2005. The pendant, which Cudi had previously purchased at an earlier auction, sold for $243,750, more than double its expected value. This piece became the highest-priced item in the auction, further solidifying its status as a coveted collector’s item.
Another major draw was a one-of-a-kind chain crafted by Ben Baller, Takashi Murakami, and Kid Cudi himself, which went for $187,500, just under its $200,000 estimate. The rapper also parted ways with a pair of Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 Lows, designed by the late Virgil Abloh, which fetched $82,500.
Additionally, an 18-karat gold Ben Baller chain featuring diamonds, sapphires, and rubies made in Cudi’s likeness brought in $43,750.
Vintage Music Tees and Unique Memorabilia
In addition to jewelry and shoes, Cudi also parted with vintage music tees, including original designs featuring Eminem, Nirvana, and Michael Jackson. One particularly prized Michael Jackson tee was one of the highlights of the auction. Cudi reflected on this piece, stating, “Anybody who goes vintage shopping in the best places knows there’s always so many dope Michael Jackson shirts… so it took me some time to really think about letting this one go.”
Why Kid Cudi Chose Joopiter
In a conversation with GQ, Kid Cudi shared that he had been in talks with Joopiter for some time, and decided it was the right moment to part with some of his personal collection. “Joopiter has been wanting to do something with me for a while, so I recently reached out to the team and let them know I had some stuff I was willing to part with, things I’ve collected throughout my career,” Cudi explained.
