The woman at the center of July’s Coldplay kiss cam controversy, Kristin Cabot, was already amicably separated from her husband weeks before the viral moment.
Andrew Cabot, CEO of Privateer Rum, spoke out for the first time after Kristin was seen on the Jumbotron sharing an alleged kiss with Andy Byron, CEO of Astronomer, where Kristin worked as Chief People Officer.
“Their decision to divorce was already underway prior to that evening. Now that the divorce filing is public, Andrew hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they’ve always valued,” a spokesperson for Andrew told PEOPLE.
Kristin reportedly filed for divorce on August 13, less than a month after the infamous Coldplay concert in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

The Viral Kiss Cam Moment
On July 16, 2025, Kristin and Andy were caught on the Coldplay Jumbotron in a moment that immediately went viral. The pair ducked out of view after the camera landed on them, sparking widespread speculation.
Chris Martin, Coldplay’s lead singer, couldn’t resist commenting on stage:
“Either they’re having an affair, or they are just very shy.”
The incident drew intense attention online, with fans dissecting every angle of the brief interaction.
Fallout and Career Impact
Following the scandal, both Kristin Cabot and Andy Byron no longer work at Astronomer. The public nature of the incident amplified scrutiny on their personal lives and professional reputations, making the clarification from Andrew Cabot particularly significant.
The couple’s story underscores the complexity of relationships in the public eye, especially when private matters collide with viral moments.
