Lionel Richie is heading home to recover after spending three days in a St. Louis hospital for cardiac-related issues, TMZ has learned.
Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ the legendary singer was released from the hospital Wednesday afternoon and is now making his way back to Los Angeles.
People was first to report Lionel had been released and was doing well following his hospitalization.
As TMZ first reported, Lionel checked himself into a St. Louis hospital on August 29 for testing after performing that night at The Muny.
A source close to the singer initially said Lionel was experiencing potential dehydration, while other sources told TMZ his health issues were related to his heart.
The hospitalization came just hours after Lionel took the stage for a concert in St. Louis.
During the performance, the singer appeared weak and had to sit down for part of the show. Despite the health concerns, he made it through the performance before seeking medical attention.

The latest health scare follows a similar incident in June.
Lionel was performing in St. Paul, Minnesota, when he became dizzy and was forced to cut the show short. He was subsequently taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The two incidents have now raised fresh concerns about the singer’s health, although specific details about his cardiac-related issues have not been disclosed.
For now, Lionel is leaving the hospital and returning to Los Angeles, where he can recover after the latest medical scare.
His release marks a positive development after three days under doctors’ care, but there has been no further public disclosure of a specific diagnosis.
