Megan Thee Stallion is taking legal action to secure a restraining order against Tory Lanez, citing allegations that the rapper has orchestrated a campaign of harassment despite serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting her.
In court documents filed on Tuesday, Megan’s legal team accused Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, of collaborating with associates outside prison to intimidate and bully her. They allege this ongoing harassment is part of a larger effort to tarnish her reputation and appeal his 2022 conviction, which was previously denied.
“Mr. Peterson’s attempts to retraumatize and revictimize Ms. Pete recognize no limits — indeed, they continue even while he is behind bars,” Megan’s lawyers stated. They also emphasized how his actions have fueled a wave of harmful and defamatory remarks against the rapper.
The filing also references a lawsuit Megan filed in October against YouTuber and influencer Milagro Gramz, whom she claims acted as a “mouthpiece” for Lanez. Megan’s legal team presented evidence that Gramz and Lanez discussed misinformation campaigns during prison phone calls. The rapper’s lawyers alleged, “Mr. Peterson’s father—when he thought no one was listening—asked his son about payments to Ms. Cooper [Gramz] for her harassment of Ms. Pete.” Instead of denying the payments, Lanez’s team reportedly questioned how Megan discovered the alleged conspiracy.
If the court grants Megan’s motion, the restraining order would bar Lanez from any form of direct or indirect contact or harassment, including online intimidation. Megan’s attorneys stressed the importance of this legal protection to prevent further harm.
The rapper’s pursuit of justice comes as she continues to face the fallout of the 2020 shooting incident, which sparked a significant cultural conversation about violence against women in the music industry.
