Renowned Ugandan singer Pia Pounds has applauded the ABM Music Camp, calling it a game-changer for local creatives looking to refine their craft and connect with international producers, songwriters, and instrumentalists.
The ABM Music Camp, which kicked off on March 3rd at the African Bureau of Music Hub in Kampala, brings together talented creatives from Europe and East Africa for a six-day immersive experience aimed at enhancing music production and collaboration.
Speaking to Spark TV, Pia Pounds—who is signed to ABM Music—highlighted the significance of the camp in bridging the gap between Ugandan and international music standards.
“We founded the African Bureau of Music in 2019, and the Swedish creatives have shown a deep interest in the African sound and instruments. My manager and I are also very passionate about African music. Hosting producers and songwriters from Europe allows us to learn from their expertise while also showcasing our unique sound.”
The Tupaate hitmaker emphasized that such programs help local artists develop world-class sound while fostering crucial global connections.
Pia Pounds Aims for Global Stardom
Pia Pounds, whose music has already made it to Netflix, revealed that her dream is to become a global star. She believes that initiatives like the ABM Music Camp provide valuable lessons on creating music that resonates with an international audience.
“My first hit song was featured on Netflix. I always think internationally because I dream of being a global star. Music is very lucrative, but Ugandan artists face a lot of challenges. This is a great opportunity to learn and grow.”
With Ugandan artists striving to make a mark on the global stage, the ABM Music Camp serves as a vital platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and artistic growth.
