The journalist and former Washington Post columnist appeared on TMZ to analyze the newly surfaced excerpts from Mangione’s writing, which shed light on his disturbing motivations behind the targeted killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
“He Tried to Minimize the Violence”
Lorenz points out that while the attack was undeniably calculated, the manifesto paints a surprising picture: Mangione appeared to deliberately avoid mass casualties.
“We knew this was a politically motivated killing from the beginning,” Lorenz said, “but he allegedly went out of his way to minimize harm. As twisted as it sounds, he could have bombed the headquarters — and chose not to.”
