Zion Williamson Responds to Rape Lawsuit: “These Allegations Are Categorically False”
Zion Williamson is fiercely denying shocking allegations made in a rape and kidnapping lawsuit filed this week, calling the claims “categorically false” and part of a calculated money grab attempt.
In a statement provided to TMZ Sports, the 24-year-old NBA star’s attorney said:
“We take these allegations with the utmost seriousness, and we unequivocally deny them. The allegations contained in the complaint are categorically false and reckless.”
Zion Says Relationship Was Consensual and Ended Years Ago
According to his legal team, Zion and the plaintiff never dated, but had a casual, consensual relationship that began over six years ago when he was 18. The relationship, they say, ended years ago, and the plaintiff never raised any concerns until she began demanding millions of dollars after their friendship ended.
“This appears to be an attempt to exploit a professional athlete driven by a financial motive rather than any legitimate grievance,” the attorney added.
Extortion Claims and Police Involvement
Zion’s camp claims that once the plaintiff began making monetary demands, they reported her for extortion to law enforcement.
“We understand that an arrest warrant was issued in connection with that report,” the attorney said, noting they have documentation to support their claims.
Williamson reportedly plans to file counterclaims and seek significant damages for defamation and reputational harm.
Statement Concludes With Confidence in Legal System
“While these allegations are false, we recognize the seriousness of the claims and welcome the opportunity to prove the truth in court. We are confident that the legal process will expose the truth and fully vindicate Mr. Williamson,” the statement concluded.
Details of the Lawsuit
The lawsuit was filed on Thursday in Los Angeles by an unidentified woman, referred to as “Jane Doe.” She accuses Williamson of rape and kidnapping during a years-long period that reportedly began when Zion was still playing for Duke University.
Interestingly, Jane Doe has not filed a police report, according to her legal team, raising questions about the case’s trajectory.
What’s Next
The case is currently developing, and Zion Williamson’s team appears ready to battle in court — not only to defend his name but also to turn the tables on the accuser.
