Legendary wrestling commentator Jim Ross just dropped some truly inspiring news: he’s officially cancer-free and gearing up for a return to the AEW broadcast table.

The 73-year-old wrestling icon made the exciting announcement on his “Grilling JR” podcast, where he confirmed that his colon cancer is gone — and he’s feeling better than he has in months.

“Yeah, I’m tired of sitting at home, and I’m excited about the opportunities that await,” Ross said on air. “I am feeling better.”

From Hospital Bed to Microphone: The Road Back

Jim Ross underwent surgery last month after a tough battle with colon cancer. While the road to recovery hasn’t been easy, the beloved AEW announcer has remained hopeful and determined throughout.

Now, JR says he has his sights set on being back behind the mic next month at AEW’s “All In” — a massive event that could mark a triumphant return for the wrestling legend.

“That’s my goal,” Ross shared, revealing his deep desire to be ringside once again, calling the action fans love.

Tony Khan Praised for Support During JR’s Cancer Battle

Ross took a moment to express heartfelt gratitude for AEW boss Tony Khan, who stood by him every step of the way.

“Tony Khan was amazingly wonderful,” JR said. “He supported me wholeheartedly, and I really do appreciate that.”

“That’s the way a boss should act — take care of your people. And Tony has certainly taken good care of me.”

The respect between Ross and Khan is clearly mutual, and JR says he’s ready to pay it forward by delivering excellence in his AEW role.

Jim Ross: Wrestling’s Voice Through the Decades

Jim Ross is more than just a commentator — he’s a cornerstone of professional wrestling history. From unforgettable calls in WWE’s Attitude Era to his current work with AEW, JR’s voice has narrated some of the sport’s most iconic moments.

Despite various health scares over the years, Ross has never let adversity define him.

“I vowed to kick cancer’s ass — and that’s exactly what I did,” he said proudly.

A Comeback Fans Can’t Wait For

Fans have been vocal about how much they’ve missed JR’s legendary voice and no-nonsense commentary style. With his cancer behind him and his passion reignited, the countdown to his AEW return is officially on.

AEW “All In” may just be the stage where Jim Ross reclaims his seat at the table — a moment that will undoubtedly be emotional, triumphant, and unforgettable.
