Music legend Paul Simon is on the mend after undergoing successful back surgery to address the “severe” pain that sidelined him last month.

In a statement shared Thursday on his official Instagram page, the Simon & Garfunkel icon assured fans the procedure went well—but revealed he still needs a bit more time to fully recover before returning to the stage.

    Tour Adjustment After Surgery

Simon’s team confirmed that his July 7 show in Long Beach, California will now take place on July 8, citing an “abundance of caution” to make sure he’s able to perform at his absolute best.

“Paul is eager to get back on stage, but we want to ensure he’s at the top of his ability for his fans,” the post read.

Fans were quick to flood the comments section with messages of love and support for the “Bridge Over Troubled Water” hitmaker.

A Quiet Celebration Tour Rolls On

The 82-year-old icon is currently in the middle of his “A Quiet Celebration Tour,” which kicked off April 4 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The tour—celebrating Simon’s decades-long career—is set to wrap on August 3 in Seattle, Washington.

The intimate shows have been hailed as a moving tribute to his legacy, and fans are hopeful the rest of the dates will proceed without a hitch.

    Fans Rally Around Paul Simon

Supporters across social media expressed relief at the positive news, sharing their excitement to see Simon back on stage soon.

    • “Take all the time you need, Paul. Your health comes first,” one fan wrote.
    • “Glad to hear the surgery went well. Can’t wait for the Long Beach show!” another added.

    Wishing Paul a Speedy Recovery

While Simon’s recovery means a slight change to the schedule, fans seem more than willing to wait for the beloved artist to heal completely.

Here’s hoping the rest of the A Quiet Celebration Tour goes off without a beat—and Simon gets back to doing what he does best: bringing timeless music to the stage.

Paul Simon fans in Long Beach can catch him live on July 8 instead of the originally scheduled date.
