Ice Cube Joins Sci-Fi Blockbuster—But Leaves Stunts to the Pros

Ice Cube is back on the big screen in a new alien invasion thriller—but don’t expect him to be running from UFOs or jumping out of helicopters anytime soon.

The rap icon-turned-Hollywood heavyweight has a role in the new action-packed sci-fi flick War of the Worlds, and while the film is loaded with mayhem, Cube is very clear: he’s not doing his own stunts anymore.

“Those days are long gone,” Cube told TMZ Hip Hop with a laugh.
“I’m not out here trying to be Tom Cruise. I’m sitting down for this one.”

Cube Plays a Tech Genius Saving Earth—From a Chair

In the film, Ice Cube plays a Department of Homeland Security computer whiz—the kind of guy who controls satellites, cracks alien codes, and maybe saves the world… all without ever leaving his chair.

It’s a far cry from the Cube we saw in the early 2000s, doing hard-hitting stunts and taking names. Remember when he stepped in for Vin Diesel in the second xXx movie? That was peak action Cube.

This time around? Not so much.

“I sat on my butt the whole time,” Cube joked.
“Probably the easiest gig of my career.”

    And honestly? He earned it.

    No Stunts, No Problem—Just a Sci-Fi Mastermind

Sure, he’s not out there dodging alien lasers or crashing vehicles. But that doesn’t mean Cube’s performance isn’t fire. In fact, the role lets him flex a different kind of muscle—the mastermind archetype, the cool-headed genius who’s two steps ahead of the apocalypse.

And let’s be real—Cube’s charisma can fill a screen even when he’s just delivering lines from behind a keyboard.

Explosions? Plenty. Chaos? Tons. Cube jumping out of a plane with a parachute? Not happening—and we’re fine with that.

Ice Cube on Aliens: “Y’all Can Believe That If You Want”

While War of the Worlds leans into alien paranoia, Ice Cube’s not buying it—at all.

When asked whether playing the role made him think about what he’d do during an alien invasion, Cube shut it down faster than a government cover-up.

“Nah, man. Aliens are a figment of your imagination,” he said.
“I don’t spend time planning for that.”

That’s right—Cube doesn’t believe in aliens. He’s not Team UFO, not buying into Area 51, not losing sleep over green men from Mars. And if you’re hoping he’ll join the alien truthers on social media? Forget it.

    Cryptoterrestrials? Cube’s Not Convinced

Even when the topic veered into the cryptoterrestrial territory—aka the idea that aliens might actually be ancient Earth dwellers hiding in plain sight—Cube wasn’t biting.

“Stranger things have happened,” he admitted.
“But I’m not banking on the paranormal.”

Translation: Ice Cube is not joining your alien-hunting Facebook group, but he might still make a killer alien movie for the check.

And honestly, that’s peak Don Mega energy.

From Rap Legend to Sci-Fi Star

Let’s not forget: Ice Cube has quietly built one of the most impressive Hollywood résumés of any rapper ever.

From writing and starring in Friday, to taking on action roles in Three Kings, Torque, and xXx: State of the Union, to family comedies like Are We There Yet?, Cube has proven he can do it all.

And now, with War of the Worlds, he’s flexing his ability to keep the drama grounded—even when the stakes are intergalactic.

    Smart Roles, Smarter Moves

What’s even more impressive? The way Cube’s evolving with age.

Rather than trying to compete with younger action stars or pretending he’s still in his 30s, he’s choosing roles that fit where he’s at now—ones that let him stay cool, stay smart, and stay far away from broken bones.

That’s not slowing down. That’s leveling up.

    Meanwhile, the Music Never Stops

While Cube is focused on acting, he hasn’t left music behind. He’s still dropping bars, touring, and holding it down as one of the OGs of West Coast hip-hop.

Just last year, he was out rocking stages with the Mount Westmore supergroup alongside Snoop Dogg, Too $hort, and E-40—a tour that proved Cube’s mic skills are as sharp as ever.

So whether he’s behind a computer in a movie or behind the mic onstage, Cube stays working.

    What’s Next for Ice Cube?

After War of the Worlds, fans are hoping for:

    • A long-rumored sequel to Friday (yes, we’re still waiting, Cube )
    • More high-level executive producing (he’s got credits all over TV & film)
    • And potentially another hip-hop album—or collab project

One thing’s for sure: Don’t expect him to fade out quietly.

Fans React: “Cube’s Too Smart for That Alien Nonsense”

After his comments about aliens hit the internet, fans had thoughts:

    • “Cube’s right. If aliens are real, they’re avoiding us for a reason.”
    • “Sitting in a chair and collecting a check? Now that’s the move.”
    • “He’s still the coolest dude in the room. No stunts needed.”

Whether you believe in aliens or not, one thing’s clear: Cube knows how to pick a role—and get paid without breaking a sweat.

️ Your Turn: Would You Watch Cube in an Alien Movie?

    Let’s hear it:

    • Do you believe aliens are real, or are you Team Ice Cube?
    • Would you watch Cube as a sci-fi lead again—or do you want him back in comedies?
    • And how many action movies should include more chair scenes?

Drop your thoughts in the comments, tag your sci-fi squad, and let us know: Is this Cube’s smoothest move yet?
