Kid Cudi is going solo—literally. The hip-hop and alternative icon just announced he’s done with guest features on his albums, aiming to keep his music raw and authentic without distractions.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Cudi explained why he’s cutting out guest appearances on upcoming projects.
“No features, just me. I think I’m over features unless it happens organically. There are people I’ve had on my albums that I haven’t talked to in years. Didn’t promote the album, just went ghost,” he revealed.
The vibe is clear: Kid Cudi wants his music to be purely his own voice.
“Makes me feel weird. So with this one, I was like, fuck that. I don’t need anyone else on this one. I’m enough to keep you engaged. Some people need features. Not me.”
New Album ‘Free’ Drops August 22—What to Expect
Cudi’s fresh project, Free, is set to hit streaming services on Friday, August 22. He’s already shared the album’s second single, “Grave,” accompanied by stunning cover art by Norman Jean Roy.
On Instagram, Cudi described the album’s concept as a journey of liberation:
“I wanted something that really expressed freedom, so the concept of me leaping into the clouds made so much sense. Inspired by The Truman Show. I can’t WAIT for you guys to hear this album and really see the album art brought to life. You’re in for a beautiful ride. Promise.”
Cudi’s Happily Ever After: Wedding Bells with Lola Abecassis
Amid album announcements, Cudi celebrated a major personal milestone—his marriage to fashion designer Lola Abecassis on July 11.
Sharing heartfelt words on Instagram, Cudi gushed:
“Nan, I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life. A truly special day with amazing friends and loving family. I love this woman so so much, and I know she loves me in the same way.”
He added with a smile:
“It’s always a battle saying ‘I love you more’ because she always wins that battle haha. My best friend, my ride or die.”
Special shoutout went to designer Alain, who crafted a stunning wedding dress for Lola.
