Drake Pulls All-Nighters to Finish Iceman Album — Plus Major Legal Update

Drake is putting in serious overtime to complete his highly anticipated ninth studio album Iceman — and he’s not shy about how intense the process has been.

While joining cryptocurrency betting platform Stake’s eighth-anniversary livestream, the Toronto superstar gave fans a candid update on his late-night grind and creative process.

“I’ll stay up all night f***ing recording for Iceman,” Drake admitted, laughing as he described the unpredictable hours that come with making music at his level.

Balancing Studio Time with Real Life

The For All the Dogs rapper said he’s been working to find a better balance between work and play, occasionally stepping out to join friends in celebration before heading straight back to the studio.

“They’re having a full-blown party outside,” he said. “I can hear people having a street festival all day. I’ll go out there… I’ll turn up with them, do shots, come back — like, I just want a little… I wanna feel it.”

The blend of real-world energy and studio focus seems to be fueling Iceman, which will serve as the follow-up to his 2023 release. While Drake didn’t share a release date, the intensity of his current schedule has fans speculating that the drop may be sooner than expected.

The Legal Drama Behind the Scenes

Away from the mic, Drake is also in the middle of a legal battle involving Universal Music Group (UMG). In a Manhattan federal court filing earlier this week, Judge Jeannette A. Vargas granted his legal team permission to serve a subpoena on Kojo Menne Asamoah using alternative methods after multiple failed attempts at personal delivery.

Drake claims Asamoah holds key information about UMG’s alleged manipulation of streaming numbers related to a recording the rapper has labeled as defamatory.

“Plaintiff alleges that Mr. Asamoah possesses knowledge relating to UMG’s use of covert tactics to promote the Defamatory Material,” the court document states.

According to Drake’s legal team, this includes claims that Asamoah may have been involved in directing payments or incentives to third parties who engaged in “online botting” — artificially boosting streaming metrics to influence public perception.

What Fans Can Expect from Iceman

Drake hasn’t dropped many hints about the album’s sound, but if history is any indication, fans can expect a mix of introspective bars, club-ready anthems, and genre-blending experimentation. With his all-nighter recording sessions and a clear desire to capture authentic vibes, Iceman could end up being one of his most personal and energetic projects yet.

From the Studio to the Courtroom

While Drake is no stranger to juggling music and controversy, the combination of crafting a major album and pursuing a legal battle with one of the industry’s biggest labels puts him in a unique spotlight. For fans, it’s yet another chapter in the ongoing saga of one of music’s most talked-about artists.
