Wendy Williams’ Guardianship Dispute Hits Pause Amid A&E Doc Fight

Wendy Williams’ legal drama continues to unfold, with new developments surrounding her guardianship and the 2024 A&E documentary, Where Is Wendy Williams?

Court-appointed guardian Sabrina E. Morrissey has formally requested a pause in the ongoing litigation with the network, pending the guardianship court’s decision on Wendy’s care and the continuation of the guardianship.

    Medical Evaluation Complete

In an August 5 filing obtained by TMZ, Morrissey stated that Wendy’s medical and neuropsychological evaluations are complete, including extensive brain imaging and specialist assessments. These tests aimed to determine Wendy’s current neurological condition and whether she has the capacity to make decisions regarding her A&E lawsuit.

“Medical specialists have formed an opinion concerning [Wendy’s] current neurological condition and diagnosis, including whether she has the ability to make decisions about the A&E litigation,” Morrissey wrote.

While the evaluation is complete, Morrissey cited complications arising from family members and others challenging the guardianship, prompting her request for a three-month pause — or until the guardianship court issues a ruling.

    A&E Responds to Delay Request

A&E has weighed in on the matter, reportedly agreeing to the delay but requesting an early deposition of Wendy due to concerns about her purported progressive neurological disease.

The network’s cooperation highlights the sensitive balance between Wendy’s health, her legal rights, and the ongoing litigation.

    The Guardianship Controversy

The guardianship itself has drawn significant scrutiny. Morrissey initially sued A&E in 2024 over the documentary, which chronicled the end of Wendy’s talk show and the beginning of her guardianship.

Meanwhile, Wendy’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, has publicly criticized the guardianship, calling it “sickening” and promising to hold those responsible accountable in court.

“We will ensure accountability for anyone who has exploited or harmed Wendy during this process,” Tacopina said last month.

    Wendy Speaks Out

Wendy herself has been vocal about her feelings toward the guardianship. In February, she described the arrangement as akin to a luxury prison during the TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy documentary, making it clear she wants the situation to end.

Fans and observers have long debated whether the guardianship is truly in Wendy’s best interest or a power play by those controlling her legal and personal affairs.

    What This Pause Means

The court’s temporary hold could have several implications:

    • Guardianship Review: The court will evaluate whether Wendy’s guardianship should continue or be adjusted.
    • Documentary Litigation Delay: Legal action against A&E will be paused, giving the guardianship court time to make decisions.
    • Health & Legal Intersection: Wendy’s neurological condition remains central, impacting both her autonomy and litigation rights.

    What’s Next for Wendy Williams?

As the guardianship court weighs its next steps, Wendy’s future in both her career and personal life remains uncertain. The pause allows for medical and legal clarity but doesn’t resolve long-term disputes.

Fans remain supportive of Wendy’s desire for independence and transparency in her affairs, keeping a close eye on every court filing and update.

Stay tuned as The Pop Radar continues to follow Wendy Williams’ guardianship saga and her fight over the A&E documentary — the next few months could be pivotal.
