Ex-Contestant Defends Jillian Michaels Amid Netflix Doc Claims

Jillian Michaels may not have been everyone’s favorite on “The Biggest Loser,” but according to one of the show’s OG contestants, she didn’t hand out caffeine pills like a new Netflix documentary suggests.

David Fioravanti, who competed on the first season, shared his perspective on the show’s explosive behind-the-scenes moments, clarifying what really went on with the former fitness trainer and coach.

A Contentious Relationship, But Facts Matter

Fioravanti admits that his relationship with Michaels was contentious at times. Coming into the show with basic fitness knowledge, he didn’t follow every instruction without question.

“If Jillian told contestants to eat sand to lose weight — which she never did — we would. But I pushed back when I disagreed, and that led to some explosive moments.”

Despite disagreements, Fioravanti stresses that he never witnessed Michaels giving anyone caffeine pills or other banned substances to shed pounds.

    The Preparation H Trick

The ex-contestant did recall one unusual method Michaels taught: smearing Preparation H on the skin to shed water weight before weigh-ins.

“It resulted in a lower posted weight, but I never felt it was dangerous in any way. It was allowed on the show,” Fioravanti explained.

This method became one of the most talked-about behind-the-scenes practices from the early seasons, yet Fioravanti emphasizes it was not harmful or illegal.

    Jillian Michaels Pushes Back

The Netflix documentary also claims that Dr. Robert Huizenga never worked with Michaels on contestant safety measures and that she provided caffeine pills to competitors.

Michaels has publicly disputed these claims and has even considered legal action against the documentary creators for misrepresenting the facts. In a recent conversation with media outlets, she called the film “misleading” and “false.”

Bottom line: Jillian Michaels didn’t always get along with contestants — but that doesn’t mean the allegations in the Netflix doc are accurate.

    Fans Weigh In

Social media has been buzzing with debates over the new documentary. Many fans of the original show defend Michaels, citing her dedication to pushing contestants safely to reach their fitness goals. Others continue to discuss the ethics of the methods used during early seasons of The Biggest Loser.

    Stay Tuned!

The debate around Jillian Michaels and The Biggest Loser isn’t going away anytime soon. With Netflix stirring controversy and ex-contestants like Fioravanti speaking out, fans are getting a rare behind-the-scenes look at one of reality TV’s most talked-about shows.
