Cracker Barrel Scraps New Logo After Social Media Backlash

Cracker Barrel just listened to the people and is officially ditching its new logo design after it sparked a social media firestorm and public outrage. The restaurant chain confirmed it will stick with its classic branding, much to the relief of fans across the country.

    The Logo That Caused Chaos

The controversial redesign had removed “Uncle Herschel”, the iconic white-haired gentleman sitting beside a barrel, in favor of a cleaner, more modernized look. But fans weren’t having it — the old logo had been a fixture since 1977, representing the chain’s signature Southern charm.

Even former President Donald Trump weighed in, showing just how widespread the backlash had become.

“We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain,” Cracker Barrel announced in a statement.

    A Win for Nostalgia

The restaurant expressed gratitude to fans for voicing their opinions, saying:

“We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel.”

The brand reassured diners that despite the logo controversy, its focus remains on “serving up delicious food, warm welcomes, and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family.”

    Why the Original Logo Matters

For decades, the “Old Timer” mascot has been synonymous with Cracker Barrel’s classic, homey aesthetic. The chair-sitting figure has appeared on menus, signage, and marketing campaigns nationwide, becoming a symbol of Southern comfort and nostalgia.

The new logo’s removal marks a rare win for consumer feedback in corporate branding, showing that even a major chain like Cracker Barrel can pivot when loyal fans speak up.

    Fans Celebrate the Return

Social media erupted with relief and celebration after the announcement. Many users praised the company for hearing its community and keeping a piece of Americana intact.

“Thank goodness Uncle Herschel isn’t going anywhere,” one fan tweeted.

“Cracker Barrel really gets it — family, tradition, and good food!” another wrote.
